I love beading! :)

Why did I create the Blog, and YouTube Tutorials?

My parents have always taught me to share things with others. This is me sharing the talent of beading with all who are interested. I want to share this Talent I have learned with others, so they can learn too! I have it for display in hopes that I might be able to help and inspire others who are interested in beading! Because this way, others can make their own jewelry with out having to pay for it, and be proud that they did it themselves! :)
*Remember that people have their own ways of doing things, this is the way that I am comfortable beading.
** This is a hobby for me, it is something I do as a stress reliever and for fun.. all while putting my heart into it <3
Feel free to comment on the posts you like! I enjoy the feedback.. If you have any questions, please ask and I will respond.
Thank You! Kristen Sally

I am from the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona. I was also the "Miss Gila River" in 2010. In 2013, they celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Miss Gila River. The MGR committee wanted a gift that they could give to all the former title holders and they commissioned me to make little beaded crowns that they could give all former Miss Gila River and honorary title holders. In total I believe I beaded 58 little crowns!!

This is the link to the video I had made

Here are some pictures of those beaded crowns ::)

Earrrings

I think one of the pieces I like to make are earrings. They're so easy and quick to make. A pair usually takes me anywhere from 30-45 minutes to make depending on the design and size. Here are a few pictures of some that I could find. These are all pretty simple designs.

I know I have been MIA for a long while.. but i will start getting back into the beading tutorials and also posting on here.. Went back to Guatemala for our Honeymoon.. and 2018 to where we are now, working and living life as it comes.. :) so i need something productive to do again.. goals are to get on the exercise wagon again and get healthy and bead and blog and make YouTube tutorials.. here are some pics from those years.. just so you can see the fun I been having while being offline so to speak.. :) I’ll post some of the bead work I’ve done in more posts after this one..

Jr. Miss San Carlos Apache Independence Day

This is the crown that I made for the Jr. Miss San Carlos Apache Independence Day.
In San Carlos, they have their own Apache Independence Day, June 18.
My friend Lanea had asked me to do their Jr. Miss Crown,
and sent me their logo and said that she wanted it light blue..
I added a few designs to the side of the crown, and it came out pretty good..
I wish I had spent more time on it, like with the lettering, but it is still nice :)
In the middle is the San Carlos Tribal seal, and some geometric designs surrounding it and the US Flag on either sides of that.
Here it is...

SHAWLS

I also make Shawls..
There are two shawls here..

The turquoise one below is one that I made in High School (like 2008, maybe) for this one lady.
My Native American Adviser needed one quick, and she asked me to do one,
since I had made one for myself when I was tribal royalty.
This shawl has a simple large water design that is applique and sewed on with black and white fringe.
The material is a heavy-ish polyester and satin applique..
I remember when they were presenting it to her I heard people around me saying oh that's pretty lol
and I was too shy to say I made it
 Here is that one..

And this one I made a couple weeks ago for a girl that graduated from 8th grade.
In AZ, its kind of a big thing when you graduate from 8th grade, especially if you're Native..
I also made her a dress that matched this shawl..
The shawl is a glittery satin material with white crepe back satin applique.
You can't really see, but this is a small mountain river design with all white fringe.
She loved it and the mother was really touched that her daughter was going to be able to represent her culture at her graduation..
Made me smile and feel good haha..
Here it is..

Beaded Feather

My sister Marlenda graduated from College, and my brother had the great idea to give her an Eagle Feather! and he asked me to bead the tip, like totally last minute lol... First, I made some room down and the quill? tip of the feather, and then I wrapped a piece of buckskin around the barrel and sewed it closed. Then I sewed on some rhinestones down the middle of the barrel. After that, I wrapped it with beads making the design you see! :) It came out really pretty and she absolutely LOVED it! She was very honored and even cried ..
So, here it is, Hope you like it..

I SEW TOO :)

Yes, I can Sew! :D I sewed this contemporary O'odham skirt for a friend, Marissa who competed in the Miss Indian World Pageant! Its black with neon colored basket designs and water design... It was a blast to make! And it is such a beautiful dress, that I want to make myself one haha..
Well here it is!

CCHS Crown

I made this Beaded Crown for the Miss Indian Cesar Chavez High School Pageant.. Its a pretty simple design, all white.. Their mascot is the Pegasus. So I did their own Pegasus, the one that is all over the school. It turned out very nice! And on the sides of the crown, its just some mountain steps.. Here it is :)

DJNativeSun's Medallion

So as you may know, I make beading tutorials on YouTube. MY very first one, nearly a year ago, was on a Medallion. Well, this guy, DJNativeSun on youtube, made a medallion from that.. And here it is, DJNativeSun's Medallion :)

I'MM BAAACK!! :D

Sooo I realize that I have been MIA for like 3 months..
SORRY! But I am back..
I haven't really gone anywhere haha just haven't had much time to make any beading tutorials
because I started a new job and been busy with family and life..
Hope you enjoy my pictures and new video coming soon :)
Thanks for giving me the inspiration to continue beading
and making and updating my YouTube channel and this blog..
Thanks again, and stay tuned :)

Missy Mt. Turnbull Crown

This is my most recent creation, the Missy Mt. Turnbull Crown.. I made this in 2 days! And a total of like 21 hours. This crown stands 5 inches tall, and is about 22 inches long.. The people asked me to make it like on a Monday, and I didn't start on it til the Friday, procrastination is a Beast haha.. So don't do it.. But I am satisfied with thee outcome! :) The people didn't give me any specifics really, lol they let me loose on it with the designs, so I incorporated their new logo into it.. The Mt Turnbull Mountain, the sunset colors and the a bullrider. I did this because That is what the whole Mt. Turnbull days is about, the rodeo and the mountain, and Sunset colors are often used out there on the San Carlos Apache Nation.
Well, Here it is :)
This is their new logo

This is the crown I made

Dawn's set

This is my sister Dawn's jewelry for her necklace.. It's not totally complete, but I thought I'd post it up :)
The style is 3 circles top is biggest, bottom is smallest.. I still got to edge this and make a choker for it, and then add some type of beaded fringe at the bottom..
Usually, there is a main color that is used, Dawn's is this orangish color..

Top Circle - 4 feathers, diamond and fire colors..

Middle Circle - This is my dad's band's symbol, of the Arivaipa Apache.

Middle Circle- This is the diamond, and 4 sacred colors..
